Shopaholics 'still look to use credit cards despite crunch'
Despite the continuing effects of the financial downturn tightening the amount of disposable income, fashion loving Aussies still feel the temptation to splash the cash on their credit cards.

Such is the assertion of the Southern Star, which reveals that although bills are increasing and that "finances are stretched to the limit", people can still feel the sway of going on a shopping spree, although they may not have the funds immediately available to do so.

In spite of this, the publication points out that "the shopaholic in you pays no attention, reaches for your credit card and before you know it you're leaving the shops with a smile on your face but a hole in your pocket", pointing out this is in a similar manner to Aussie actress Isla Fisher's character in recent film Confessions of a Shopaholic.

However, those looking to use the plastic to finance the latest additions to their wardrobe may want to consider getting a credit card that comes with an interest free period on new purchases.

Meanwhile, making use of certain credit cards could reap benefits for consumers after a recent Courier-Mail article advised Aussies to check the terms of their membership as they may be able to receive discounts at the cinema, theatre, restaurants and theme parks.
