Fashionistas 'trying to reduce credit card spend'
They still have a passion for fashion but Aussie credit card holders are being much more savvy in how they spend at the tills.

One of these is Kathleen Swann, who tells the News Mail how she is always on the search for top-quality brands at low prices.

Meanwhile, Nikki Rae reports how she constantly keeps an eye out in the sales - searching for things she likes that are reasonably priced - and only taking out a certain amount of money with her.

"I try not to put anything on my credit card," she states, although those looking to fund a shopping splurge using the plastic may want to search for a credit card interest free on purchases.

Sharon Walker, owner of the Destiny Boutique, adds that people are now "thinking a lot more about their purchases".

Meanwhile, Jon Gaskell, co-founder of online saving scheme SmartyPig, recently told the Herald Sun that as people need to be "socially responsible" when it comes to money management, the nation needs to "rethink" how it uses credit cards.
