How to avoid becoming a victim of credit card fraud
Phishing is a technique used to pose as a company to obtain victims details. This can be done by setting up websites, or contacting victims by by post or phone, claiming to be from your bank. Always be cautious when dealing with sensitive data. Check any links provided in email claiming to be from your bank to ensure you are not being re-directed to a hoax website. These hoax sites can be duplicates of a genuine site and can be very convincing. They are designed to take your details without you knowing foul play was involved.
Under no circumstances should you ever reveal your PIN to anyone. You are never expected to give your PIN out so don't do it.
Try not to give out personal details that you may use as passwords (e.g. date of birth, mother's maiden name) onto social-networking websites such as Facebook, this just puts you at risk.
