Businesses need to be more aware about protecting their customers' credit card details, one expert has noted.
Companies should be aware that there are cybercriminals coming after customer databases in order to access credit card details.
This is according to McAfee vice-president of threat intelligence Dmitri Alperovitch, who noted that businesses cannot afford to ignore these dangers, Smart Company reports.
The company pointed out the type of online fraudsters to look out for, such as "hactivists", which he stated that organisations certainly need to worry about as they are usually trying to find out Aussie credit card numbers.
He added: "These are unskilled activists with relatively little online experience. They limit attacks to taking websites offline, or defacing websites and are more of a nuisance than anything else."
In addition, companies should be careful with novices who buy kits from the internet to run malware.
And this advice comes after Chris Taylor, who has written a book to help consumers and businesses protect themselves from cons on credit cards, stated that anyone from organised gangs to bored teenagers can pull of these types of scams.
