Flood-hit Westpac customers 'can apply for extra Aussie credit limit'

Westpac has launched a Disaster Relief Package for those affected by the Victoria floods.

Westpac credit card customers affected by the recent floods in Victoria can apply for emergency Aussie credit, the organisation has announced.

This is just one of a number of factors included in a Disaster Relief Package created by the bank to help those customers who require financial relief due to the natural catastrophe.

Flood-hit consumers with Westpac home loans will be given the opportunity to defer their repayments for up to three months and businesses which are borrowing from the firm can request restructuring options without having to pay the normal establishment fees.

Mark Paton, Victorian state manager at the organisation, said the company's thoughts are with everyone involved.

He added: "We understand how situations like this can affect our customers' financial circumstances and at this time they do not need the additional burden of worries over financial commitments."

This news comes after the bank announced it had donated $250,000 to the Oxfam Pakistan flood appeal.
