Telstra customers are being targeted by a scam, it has been revealed.
Telstra has issued a warning to its customers about becoming victims of a credit card scam.
Hoaxers are sending out a phishing email pretending to be from BigPond and asking consumers for their
Aussie credit details.
But Darren Kane, Telstra's officer of internet trust and safety, said in a statement: "Telstra and BigPond will never send an email requesting passwords, account verification, credit card details or other personal details by asking you to click on a link."
He noted that this information should only ever be provided if a request is expected, or someone has initiated it.
A similar type of scam has targeted members of Australian Central, it was revealed earlier this week, with conmen attempting to gain access to details of
bank accounts and credit cards with bogus emails and phone calls.
As a result, the organisation recommended its customers to update their spyware and virus protection software on their computer regularly.
