Credit card and bank account details of small and midsized businesses are increasing under threat from scammers, one company has noted.
Small and midsized businesses (SMBs) in Australia are facing increased risks to their confidential information, such as credit card and
bank account details, according to one organisation.
But security firm Symantec has launched a new free tool in an attempt to help these companies understand the virus or hacker attacks that they are facing, which could lead to damaged profitability.
The system enables users find out the perils they could be subject to and assign themselves a risk rating, while it also provides recommendations to help improve information protection.
Steve Martin, director of small and midsized businesses for the pacific region at Symantec, said this device should ensure organisations can identify threats before they affect the company.
This advice comes after Adam Courtenay, writing for the Age, noted that banks and
Aussie credit unions are signed up to the Electronic Funds Transfer Code which ensures security for consumers when they are using ATMs and Eftpos machines.
