Scalpers at cricket matches could be a thing of the past if new ticket suggestions are approved.
Credit cards could be swiped at cricket matches in order to prevent scalpers, one report has revealed.
Cricket Australia's Peter Young noted the profiteers were "sleazebags who disrupt ordinary Australians' access to tickets to popular events by diverting the affordable tickets into the pockets of the well-heeled", the Age reports.
But the document, released by the Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council, stated that the new system might be beneficial to avoid people profiting from selling tickets on for major money.
The report - In Ticket scalping: Ticket onselling and consumers - suggested that virtual tickets could be the way forward, which would mean individuals would have to swipe their credit card or driving licence to be allowed in.
Alternatively, consumers could use the Aussie credit option to purchase tickets via SMS.
This news comes after MasterCard declared that the majority of Australians are spending their dollars on entertainment and dining.
