Jobseekers are being targeted by a credit card fraud syndicate, police have noted.
A
credit card fraud syndicate has been targeting vulnerable jobseekers, according to police.
Large sums of money is being offered to "dispatch managers", who are being targeted from recruitment websites.
According to officers, the Aussie credit group has already managed to steal $100,000 worth of goods from the scam - which has been operating in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Fraudulent details from credit cards are used to purchase expensive items online, while employees working from home receive packages with the products, which can include photographic equipment and car parts.
Detective Senior Constable Tim Johns said: "Once the recruit has worked for a month and starts asking for payment, the syndicate stops replying to their emails and the recruit is never paid."
This news comes after antivirus software firm AVG advised consumers to properly dispose of bank account statements and utility bills to ensure they do not become victims of identity theft.
