A Singaporean credit card scam is targeting Australian Jewellers.
A host of Australian jewellers have been targeted by a
credit card scam.
The con is the responsibility of a Singaporean jewellery buying syndicate, which start out by emailing a business.
The message begins: "I'm from Singapore and I would like to purchase some products from your company but before we doing [sic] business, I need your answers for my questions below," Jeweller magazine reports.
Moreover, the syndicate asks whether the shop accepts payments via credit cards and if it ships oversees.
And one retailer has already been sucked in by the scam, which could have left him nearly $18,000 out of pocket.
Luckily, he realised the card used was stolen and contacted the Singapore police before the goods were delivered.
This news comes after Aussie credit card fraudsters were recently reported by three banks which included major and second-tier organisations, according to chief executive of the Australian Bankers Association Stephen Munchenberg, the Australian Associated Press reported.
