People should ensure they do not let their credit card out of their sight, according to ABC Perth.
One publication has released tips on how to help avoid having your
credit card skimmed by conmen.
ABC Perth advises people to run their hand over the keypad of an ATM to see if it feels different to normal and also to inspect the card slot for damage.
Dents to the face of the screen are also something to look out for, as well as loose screws on the machine.
It added: "Always cover your pin when using an ATM or Eftpos terminal by shielding the keypad with your hand or your wallet."
Sharing
bank account details or pin numbers with anyone is also not advised by the site, which recommends people keep their card in sight at all times and not let anyone take it away to be swiped.
This advice comes after Aurora Energy recently issued an alert to Australians about a telephone scam, whereby people were ringing up customers pretending to be from the company and asking for details of
Aussie credit cards and bank accounts, ABC News reported.
