Credit card skimming is not taken lightly by banks, one industry expert has said.
Banks take a serious approach to
credit card skimming.
This is according to Australian Bankers Association spokeswoman Heather Wellard, who noted that security at the organisations is important and there are computer systems in place to monitor transactions, ABC Perth reports.
She added: "If a transaction is identified as suspicious, it will be investigated to ensure there is no breach of security."
Her comments come after a 22-year-old Perth woman had $2,000 skimmed from her
bank account, although she managed to get all the money back from the organisation after it realised she was an innocent victim of fraud.
At the time of the theft she had used her
Aussie credit card at an Eftpos terminal at a fast food restaurant.
This news comes after Daniel Joseph Meade, 26, forged documents and managed to obtain eight personal loans in 16 months between 2005 and 2006 but escaped a prison sentence, the Fraser Coast Chronicle reported.
