A man who pleaded guilty to credit card fraud has been allowed to walk free from court.
A man who applied for a
credit card online using a false name and ripped off a selection of financial organisations has pleaded guilty to the charges.
But he has been allowed to walk out of Maryborough District Court free yesterday (May 24th) despite netting $114,000 from the con, the Fraser Coast Chronicle reports.
Daniel Joseph Meade, 26, got his hands on an
Aussie credit card after forging documents and he managed to obtain eight personal loans in 16 months between 2005 and 2006.
Despite crown prosecutor Brendan Manttan asking for an imprisonment term due to the large amount of money involved, the court ruled otherwise because he had not re-offended for the past four years.
Earlier this year, Malaysian Ching Boon Goh was jailed for two years and nine months after he sold gift cards on that had been bought using fake and stolen credit cards, the Australian Associated Press reported.
