Some Commonwealth Bank customers may have become victims of ATM skimming, it has been revealed.
ATM skimming devices have been found in six shopping centres in Melbourne.
The equipment was discovered on Commonwealth Bank machines, which has led to some customers having their
bank accounts drained, the Herald Sun reports.
A selection of people from Frankston to Werribee noted they had their bank account stripped of cash and an amount of money was siphoned to the UK.
But it was not confirmed by the organisation which offers Commonwealth
credit cards whether or not there was a link with Britain.
One tool was found at an ATM in South Yarra, which had a fake card reader installed and a camera attached to the plate above the keypad.
Stonnington Detective Sergeant Phil Egan said: "Until people come forward to advise us we won't have any idea how long this device has been there."
The organisation recently upped the
interest rate on its deposit and standard variable home loans.
