All the tools needed to skim cards were found in the possession of a man at Brisbane airport.
A man was arrested at Brisbane airport earlier this week after he was found to have all the ingredients needed to skim
credit cards.
The 23-year-old from China had his bags searched, revealing 31 blank ATM cards, computer discs, an ATM feeder-face unit, laptop, card encoder, superglue and adhesive tape, Secure Computing reported.
These tools could have been used in ATM machines by recording information stored on the black magnetic strips of
Aussie credit and debit cards.
Australian customs seized the man's belongings, which could have prevented many having their credit card details cloned.
This news comes after one policeman said credit card fraud is on the increase following the arrest of a Brisbane man for allegedly planning to con the public out of their credit.
Acting Detective Inspector Jon Strohfeldt of the Fraud and Corporate Crime Group noted ATMs are being targeted at "alarming rate".
