Earth Hour begins this weekend and Commonwealth Bank will be switching off lights to help out.
Commonwealth Bank has reaffirmed its eco-friendly attitude before the start of Earth Hour this weekend.
One of its steps has been to produce online rather than paper statements for 400,000 credit card customers and over 1.5 million with
bank accounts.
The bank group which offers a range of Commonwealth Bank
credit cards is planning to switch off more than one million lights on Saturday (March 27th).
And the organisation has used its 2008-09 environmentally-friendly figures to plan to cut carbon emissions by 20 per cent by June 2013.
Tristan Wills, executive general manager, said the group is committed to improving its carbon footprint and raise awareness to its ten million customers and 40,000 staff about energy issues.
She added: "Setting a carbon-reduction target helps us address our direct impact on the environment and creates opportunity for further operational efficiencies."
Greg Bourne, chief executive of WWF-Australia, recently noted Earth Hour was a good way for people all across the world to help reduce climate change.
