tips for saving from Emma Johnson, who was talking to the Bay Post, include buying second-hand uniforms for children from a Salvation Army shop.
Ms Johnson's advice should alert people with
credit card debt and those with the expense of children going back to school.
She also said making kids a packed lunch and buying the contents in bulk is a good way to save money.
Additionally, Seventh Day Adventist pastor John Cunning-ham said an exercise book would come in handy to work out exactly how much money you need to spend each month.
He said it would help identify unnecessary expenses.
Both comments come as Australian Science and Mathematics School principal Jim Davies, speaking to News Limited Newspapers, recently advised that parents pay school fees in instalments to "ease the burden" on their
bank account balance.
