Debt advice tips issued

A money management expert is advising consumers on how to get to grips with debt.

People looking for tips for saving money may want to register the advice issued by one financial expert.

The Ballina Shire Advocate notes comments from Anita Bell - author of a trilogy of self-help money management books - who points out that consumers should use cash as often as possible instead of Aussie credit

Speaking while on a tour of libraries across the Sunshine Coast, she pointed out that people should make effort to increase their income and set up "a small regular pay-day sanity allowance" as they create a budget.

Doing so, Ms Bell stated, can help them to afford "the things that are most important" while they also get to grips with essentials such as household bills.

And such advice may prove to be of assistance as the publication notes that as they attempt to manage mortgage commitments, credit card bills and household expenses, families in the area "are digging themselves deeper into debt".

Meanwhile, Brad Steele, North Queensland general manager at Suncorp Bank, recently told the Daily Mercury that Mackay residents "are not certain" about their financial future.
