Those hitting the high street for some festive shopping should do so with caution.
Christmas shoppers have been reminded of the need to keep their credit cards secure.
ADT Security points out that in the run-up to the festive period, those scouring shopping centres for gifts should also ensure that they do not fall victim of thieves.
One means through this can be done is by making sure people always keep their credit card in their sights, as the firm indicates that the increasing use of technology makes skimming card details "easier than ever".
Australian banking guidance from the firm also saw people advised to carry a minimal amount of cash on them and to use ATMs that are in well-lit areas.
"No one wants to have to deal with stolen purses or purchases and with a little care these mishaps can usually be avoided," Mark Norton, of ADT Security, states.
The
Aussie credit security tips come as Peter Kell, deputy chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, points out that
credit card and
bank account scams are becoming "increasingly sophisticated".
