Westpac Bank has unveiled a series of support measures aimed at helping
credit card consumers and other customers in the wake of flooding that has ravaged the country.
As part of a disaster relief package targeting those affected by flooding in the northern region of New South Wales and south-east Queensland,
Westpac credit card customers will be able to request for an emergency credit increase.
Meanwhile, Westpac personal loans can be refinanced to a special discounted fixed rate of interest, while home loan repayments can be deferred for a period of up to three months.
"We understand how situations like this can affect our customers' financial circumstances and at this time they do not need the additional burden of worrying about financial commitments," Sean O'Malley, general manager for regional banking in New South Wales at Westpac, claims.
Earlier this year, the bank announced that those affected by the Port Lincoln bushfires would be able to apply for an emergency credit limit rise.
