Different rules apply to the different methods of payment by
credit card Aussie consumers have access to at the point of sale, it has been noted.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that paying through Eftpos is achieved by pressing the 'cheque' or 'savings' button.
But when paying by credit card Aussie consumers might prefer to press 'credit' instead - and pay by the scheme debit system.
The publication explains that doing so provides protections similar to those of Visa or MasterCard credit card payments.
As a result, consumers have 75 days - in most cases - during which they can request that their transaction is reversed and the funds credited back to their account.
Doing so - termed 'chargeback' - can correct duplicate charges or incorrect amounts taken from accounts, the Sydney Morning Herald explains.
The publication also recently told Aussies that getting married early can have financial benefits as couples earn more together while sharing their costs.
