Aussie credit consumers should be aware that their
credit cards are likely to be targeted by internet criminals.
Such is the assertion of Symantec, where in its latest Internet Security Threat Report, it states online crime is set to increasingly be derived from popular, trusted sites infected with malicious code from cybercrooks.
Findings from the firm also indicated that the financial services sector is particularly likely to be targeted, with over 70 per cent of fraudulent and malicious attacks striking bank and other finance-related websites.
David Dzienciol, senior director of Symantec Australia and New Zealand, states that
bank account and credit card details are set to be the most popular items to be traded by online criminals, in news that could interest those on the search for a new credit card coming with a range of comprehensive security features.
Meanwhile, research carried out by Unisys reveals that 63 per cent of people believe the risk of being a victim of identity theft and related crime is set to increase as the financial crisis rumbles on.
