Motorists in Perth will now be able to pay for their fuel using contactless credit card technology, it has emerged.

Across 23 Caltex Woolworths petrol stations in the area, those in possession of Everyday Money Credit Card will be able to make purchases without the need to enter the office and physically swipe their credit card through a machine in front of an employee.

Instead, Aussie credit consumers can use the firm's epump, which has been created via an exclusive arrangement between Woolworths and HSBC - the issuer of the card - lasting up until August 2010, the West Australian reports.

After this point, those with contactless credit cards from other providers will be able to pay for their goods using the pump.

Speaking to ABC Local Radio earlier this year, Michael Luscombe - Woolworths' chief executive - claimed that several people used the handout received as part of the fiscal stimulus package to repay their credit cards.
