Aussie
credit card holders have been the target of a recent skimming operation in Victoria.
Detectives in Melbourne are investigating a number of thefts and deception from an ANZ cash machine located in the centre of the city, which they believe has defrauded consumers by as much as $500,000.
Located on the corner of Collins Street and Elizabeth Street, it is thought that a skimming device has been attached to the ATM on an intermittent basis over the last two months, which has read consumers' credit card details and accessed money from their accounts.
Now, police are on the search for two males who they believe can help with their investigation as they believe the credit card fraud is part of an international syndicate.
Earlier this month, Gail Gago, consumer affairs minister, urged older Aussies to beware fraudsters and avoid giving their credit card details to criminals pretending to be from a bank.
