Job advertisements suffered in April, one study has shown.
The amount of jobs advertised in Australia in April decreased following another
interest rate rise.
This is according to an ANZ bank monthly survey, which noted the demand for jobs had halted after recent growth, Business Day reports.
Newspaper jobs were down by 0.7 per cent, while online advertisements also declined by 1.3 per cent.
Overall, the figures fell to 160,660 last month by 1.2 per cent after a 1.8 per cent gain in March.
Chief economist for the organisation which offers
ANZ savings accounts - Warren Hogan said he was not surprised by the decline after two consecutive interest rate increases by the Reserve Bank of Australia.
The last rise came earlier this month as the official cash rate went up from 4.25 per cent to 4.5 per cent.
This prompted a number of banks to take action, which included ANZ. The organisation upped the interest rates on its
credit cards and business lending by 0.25 per cent.
