Details of Aussie taxpayers who have offshore accounts are wanted by the Australian Tax Office.
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) has announced it would like to receive all details of Aussie taxpayers who have overseas
bank accounts.
It has also encouraged people to tell on those who are dodging tax, Perth Now reported.
Tax Commissioner Michael D'Ascenzo said there is no problem with investing in an offshore bank account, however tax must be paid.
He added: "Once we receive the information from the banks, we will match it against our own data to identify people who may not have met their lodgement and payment obligations under Australian tax law."
It is encouraging people to come forward, instead of risk the wrath of the ATO and be found out because, according to the organisation, it is gaining access to a lot more intelligence about overseas accounts.
In March, St George bank which offers a range of savings accounts sent out around 42,000 bank account details to the wrong people, BusinessDay reported.
