'Women are in charge' of most couples' joint savings accounts
Women take charge of the savings account in a relationship rather than men, a survey has discovered.
The savings accounts of most couples are looked after by the woman in the relationship, a recent poll suggested.
Westpac found there are about 40 per cent of women who think men waste money instead of putting it into a savings account, the Herald Sun reported.
Women are often stereotyped with spending money on the family credit card, but relationships psychologist John Aiken said people's choices on whether to splash the cash or save it depends a lot on how they were brought up.
He added: "Couples talk about other values such as attitudes about having children before they settle down, yet often neglect discussing whether they are on the same page about money."
This news comes after Dun and Bradstreet found around 86 per cent of women in the country were unaware of what their Aussie credit profile looks like, the Australian reported last month.
